Xero launches new inventory features for goods-based businesses

Managing inventory is essential to ensuring goods-based business operations flow smoothly.

However, the tasks involved (such as getting the right levels of stock and making informed business decisions) can be difficult and stressful for business owners.

Xero, the UK’s leading cloud accounting software solution, is launching a series of new inventory features to make stock management easier, clearer, and more efficient for businesses.

The first key updates to roll out are bulk inventory adjustments and an enhanced purchase order feature, which will help Xero users save time and reduce errors when completing daily inventory tasks.

Here are the key details you need to know about Xero’s upcoming inventory features.

Bulk inventory adjustments

Making sure that inventory quantities and costs are accurate and up-to-date is essential for ensuring your financial reports are correct, having enough stock, and generating reliable data.

Adjusting inventory items can be highly time-consuming and inefficient, particularly where you have large quantities of stock.

Xero’s new feature will enable you to adjust inventory items in bulk by selecting multiple tracked inventory items and updating their quantities in one go.

This will boost the accuracy of your stock entries, save time, and make stock management easier during peak periods.

Faster purchase ordering

The other update coming soon is an improvement to the layout of the main purchase order list view, in order to maximise screen space.

This aims to provide businesses with a clearer overview of purchase orders.

With this new feature, deleted purchase orders will be automatically removed from the main list and a new “compact view” option will make it easier to see more purchase orders at a glance.

Xero users will also be able personalise the view of their purchase orders by customising columns and their arrangement in the list.

A specific purchase order status can also be set as the default page view, so that business owners can see what matters most to them immediately.

Efficient purchase ordering is vital for keeping inventory stocked: Xero’s new update is designed to make managing purchase orders more streamlined and effective.

Smoother purchase ordering will also help businesses keep their accounting in sync.
